Matt Gaetz: Trump's Endorsement Of McCarthy Is 'Sad'

January 7, 2023

Matt Gaetz is EXTREMELY disappointed with former President Donald Trump's recent renewed endorsement of Kevin McCarthy for House speaker.

In December, Trump announced that he was a STRONG supporter of McCarthy of California to become the next speaker of the House of Representatives.

Once McCarthy wasn't able to win the first few votes, Donald appeared not want to support a loser, saying that he needed to "see what happens" and make sure that McCarthy would win before reaffirming support.

Apparently, somebody on Donald's team decided that wasn't a good look, so the president changed his mind and enthusiastically stated America needed to elect Kevin McCarthy. Of course, the phone call between McCarthy and Trump on Tuesday evening might have something to do with it. Who knows what McCarthy promised Trump. To get such a drastically different reaction out of Trump so quickly, it must have been something special.

Gaetz was NOT impressed by Trump's flip-flopping.

"Sad!" Gaetz said.

"This changes neither my view of McCarthy, nor Trump, nor my vote."
