Matt Gaetz offers opinion on AG nominee Pam Bondi
Some were worried that Matt Gaetz might not play nice after essentially being forced to resign after Donald Trump picked him to be America's next attorney general.
Well, we can put those concerns to bed.
Anyone worried about Gaetz possibly making Trump look back because of sour grapes can rest easy. Gaetz has come out and called his replacement nominee, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, a "stellar" pick.
"I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress," Gaetz said after he dropped out of attorney general consideration. "She's a proven litigator, an inspiring leader and a champion for all Americans. She will bring the needed reforms to Department of Justice."
Gaetz dropped out of consideration after renewed concerns over an ethics investigation came back to haunt him.
He was never charged with wrongdoing during the investigation, but the decision to not release the details of the investigation made many Americans wonder what was being kept hidden.
Instead of distracting from Trump's accomplishments with his own drama, Gaetz simply decided to go away, and hopefully he took the ethics questions with him.
