Massachusetts man arrested at Capitol with plans to assassinate Pete Hegseth

A Massachusetts man was arrested at the U.S. Capitol on Monday equipped with Molotov cocktails and knives and planned to kill Republicans, specifically Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Ryan Michael "Reily" English turned himself into police, saying he was there to "kill [Treasury Secretary] Scott Bessent" as well as other Republicans like Hegseth and Johnson.

This was on the same day that Bessent was confirmed as Treasury secretary by the U.S. Senate which suggests that English was motivated by the hysterical media coverage of President Trump's cabinet nominees.

According to court documents, English told police that he had traveled to Washington D.C. with the "intention of killing what [he] referred to as 'Nazi' Secretary of Defense, Peter Hegseth, and/or the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson."

English reportedly browsed Reddit, a social media site known for its leftist politics, where he found out about Bessent's confirmation hearings and concocted a plan to throw a Molotov cocktail at Bessent's feet or stab him if he got close enough according to investigators.

Luckily, English lost his nerve and turned himself in to the police, but this situation could have ended much worse. This situation also shines a light on just how much danger Democrats have caused with their incitements to violence against Republicans.
