Mark Kelly viewed as likely to win Kamala Harris veepstakes
Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) has emerged as the uncontested frontrunner to be Kamala Harris' running mate.
Kelly is on a shortlist of Democrats who have received vetting materials as one of a handful of Democrats under consideration for Harris's right-hand man or woman.
The lawmaker is thought to bring a lot to the table and is widely considered to be a moderate Democrat who is highly popular in Arizona which is a viciously contested swing state that will be crucial to determining who wins the White House in November.
Democratic strategist Matt Grodsky praised Kelly saying, "I think you need someone that’s got national ID and has been tested to a degree, and I think [Kelly] brings that."
Kelly has proven that he can win hotly contested elections, and that will be a huge asset for Harris. However, that poses issues for Democrats hoping to hold onto his Senate seat.
If Kelly becomes Harris' pick, Democrats will have to find someone who can win that purple seat, and that won't be easy. While it looks like Kelly is the frontrunner for Harris, it will likely cost Democrats dearly.
