America is in some serious hot water when it comes to our debt crisis and debt ceiling, just as it seems we are almost every year.
What makes this year unlike others is Joe Biden's complete refusal to cooperate with anyone.
It's gotten so bad, that even at least one Democrat has urged Biden to put his pride aside and sit down and meet with the Republican leader of the House, California's Kevin McCarthy.
It was West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin -- soon up for reelection in a pretty red state -- who called for Biden to stop messing around and at least try to save America. He said:
The clock is ticking on this debt ceiling crisis, and the American people will pay the economic price if President Biden continues to refuse to sit down and negotiate a commonsense compromise that would prevent a historic default.
Republicans recently passed their own debt legislation, the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023.
Instead of celebrating progress, the White House promised to veto it, calling it "a reckless attempt to extract extreme concessions as a condition for the United States simply paying the bills it has already incurred."
