Majority of voters want Biden to step down now

In a new poll by J.D. Partners, six in 10 voters said they think President Joe Biden should step down as president now, rather than waiting until his term ends in January 2025.

Biden withdrew from his re-election bid last month after a terrible debate performance that showed his mental and physical decline.

Given the extent of that apparent decline, many voters don't think he's capable of running the country anymore.

Overall, 57% of likely voters polled said Biden should resign now, and among Democrats, 47% thought so.

The White House has said calls for an early resignation are "ridiculous" and that he has no intention of stepping down.

Even though there are fewer than three months until the election, that's ample time to show the country what kind of President Kamala Harris will be -- which is the last thin Democrats want to do.
