Majority of Californians think Dianne Feinstein should resign, new poll says

A University of California Berkley poll reported that 52% of those surveyed said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) should resign now rather than at the end of her term in 2025.

That majority believes her resignation "would benefit the state because a successor could better represent California’s interests in the Senate."

Feinstein has been absent from the Senate for two months after contracting shingles and suffering complications from the virus.

She has been weakened since her return and has missed several more votes.

If Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) appoints a successor, it still may not help Democrats get judicial nominees approved, because Republicans may not approve a replacement on the judicial committee.

Without Feinstein, no judges can be approved for the full Senate to vote on, which effectively nullifies the Democrat majority in this area.
