Majority in new poll think Trump intentionally committed criminal act

A new ABC News/IPSOS poll showed that 53% of respondents said they believe former President Donald Trump intentionally did something illegal in the case by Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg against him.

That number was higher than the 20% who said he didn't do anything wrong, while 11% said he did something wrong, but it wasn't intentional.

The indictment of Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records on April 3 and his arraignment on the 4th were generally seen as weak by most in the media, so maybe it was the way the question was asked that made people think he did something wrong.

Only 45% said he should be charged with a crime in the case or in several other ongoing investigations into him, but that's still higher than the 32% who said he shouldn't be charged. Another 23% weren't sure.

A plurality of respondents, 47%, said the indictment was political, while 32% said it wasn't political.

It seems doubtful at this point that Trump could get over half of the voting public to choose him as their candidate in 2024, but he has more than a year to get them to change their minds.
