Major border patrol union endorses Tulsi Gabbard for DNI
The National Border Patrol Council has officially endorsed former congresswoman Tulsi Gabard in her quest to become director for national intelligence after being nominated by Donald Trump.
Incoming Senate Intelligence Committee chair, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), received a letter of endorsement from the National Border Patrol Council on Dec. 18. The Daily Wire reported that the homeland security union gave "two thumbs up to Gabbard."
"On behalf of the National Border Patrol Council, I write to express our complete and total support of President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to be the Director of National Intelligence, former U.S. Representative and Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard," the letter states.
It continues, "We have no doubt that Lt. Col. Gabbard is the right person to be the DNI and will work tirelessly to keep our nation safe, just as she has done for the past two decades."
Gabbard was praised for her military service, something the letter argued means she should understand the threats against America that the director for national intelligence is supposed to address.
"The U.S. Intelligence Community, led by the DNI, plays an integral role in our border security by monitoring the potential for these threats to enter our country," the union wrote.
"From transnational criminal organizations operating in North, Central, and South America to foreign terrorist organizations and hostile state actors, these entities and individuals will always attempt to exploit our unsecure [sic] borders to further their activities that threaten the American people," the letter added.
