Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) appeared for an interview on CNN's State of the Union in which she revealed that that she is considering a presidential run.
Anchor Jake Tapper opened the interview saying, “Donald Trump is likely to be the next Republican presidential nominee, and he has a decent shot being elected the next president. It could happen. What would a second Donald Trump term look like?"
Cheney, who is an avowed enemy of the former president, responded by saying, "Well, he cannot be the next president because if he is, all of the things that he attempted to do but was stopped from doing by responsible people around him, at the Department of Justice and the White House Counsel office, he will do. There will be no guardrails, and everyone has been warned. After January 6, after our investigation, after all of the evidence that we laid out about all of the steps and his multi-part plan to overturn the election, there could be no question that he will unravel the institutions of our democracy."
This tirade against Trump prompted Tapper to ask Cheney, "You’re not ruling out a presidential run?"
She responded by saying, "No, I’m not." The implications of Cheney's comment are both shocking and laughable considering Cheney's political status.
Cheney has already been soundly rejected by Republican voters who threw her out of Congress for her enabling and support of the Democrat witch hunt against Donald Trump. No Republican wants Cheney as president, and no Democrat would pick her over anyone else currently in the conversation.
