Liquor licenses for 2 of Trump's NJ clubs still up in the air, post-conviction

 July 2, 2024

Former President Donald Trump's legal issues have also affected the business side of his numerous of his enterprises, including the ability to serve liquor at some of his clubs.

According to Yahoo News, liquor licenses for two of his New Jersey-based clubs are now in question as the issuing body considers whether or not his convictions in New York should affect whether or not his clubs can serve alcohol.

The liquor licenses for Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck and Trump National Golf Club Bedminster are now operating on interim licenses until the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control decides whether to renew them.

The two clubs' licenses expired over the weekend. A hearing will be held on July 19 to determine whether or not they will be renewed.

However, that date could also change, as Trump's sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for July 11, but this week, it was moved to September.

"The final judgment of conviction that raises the prospect of disqualifying Mr. Trump from an interest in a New Jersey liquor license due to the guilty verdict in New York will not be entered until after his sentencing," a spokesperson said.

However, the problem that many have with the situation, as it's obviously another political hit job, is that Trump is not the direct holder of the licenses, and he doesn't hold a title in those businesses that would require him to be involved in the liquor licensing process.

The Trump Organization called the situation "unwarranted and unjustified."

"As previously stated, President Trump is not the holder of any liquor license in New Jersey, and he is not an officer, director or operator of any entity that holds a liquor license in New Jersey. These liquor licenses support the livelihoods of many hundreds of hard working New Jersey residents, including bartenders, waiters and waitresses, they service thousands of members, and they contribute millions of dollars to the revenue streams of the State of New Jersey," the organization said.

It added, "They are also relied upon by people for special life events, including weddings, Christenings, and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, as well as charitable outings and events. We sincerely hope that this investigation is not political in nature, and given the foregoing, we feel confident that our licenses will remain unaffected."

Eric Trump also released a statement on social media regarding the situation.

"One minor problem - President Trump is not the holder of any liquor license in New Jersey, and he is not an officer or director of any entity that holds a liquor license in New Jersey - or anywhere in the United States for that matter. Ask me how I know…" he wrote.

Only time will tell if the situation is rectified.
