Letitia James heads to Supreme Court

 March 27, 2024

New York Attorney General Letitia James recently headed to the United States Supreme Court to advocate for access to mifepristone, a pill used in the majority of abortions that happen in America.

The high court's justices heard oral arguments in their first case regarding reproductive rights since overturning Roe vs. Wade a few years ago.

For years, that case guaranteed abortion rights throughout the country, but abortion was deemed to be a state issue on June 24, 2022.

That doesn't make abortion illegal throughout the country, it just gives states the right to be pro-life if they want to be.

"I was at the Supreme Court today to defend access to Mifepristone. Mifepristone is safe and effective, and it has been used by millions of people. I'll never stop fighting because it's your body, and it should always be your choice," James explained.

She also shared a picture of protestors at the court:

"Hands off our bodies. We cannot allow anti-choice forces to make political decisions and ignore the facts, ignore the science, ignore the judgment of medical professionals. Hell no," James declared at a rally outside the Supreme Court.
