Lee Zeldin joins long list of Trump endorsements

April 25, 2023

Former Rep. Lee Zeldin, who was nearly elected governor of New York in 2022, on Monday joined a long list of endorsements for former President Donald Trump to become the GOP presidential nominee in 2024.

“The GOP is filled with amazing talent to save our country from the failed policies of the Biden Admin. Our nominee in 2024 will be the 45th & 47th POTUS, Donald Trump,” Zeldin wrote on Twitter.

Despite narrowly losing the governor's race, Zeldin generated a lot of GOP support and helped candidates in other races around the state.

The GOP may not have the narrow majority in the House that it has today without the support generated by Zeldin's candidacy.

Zeldin himself was endorsed by Trump in the governor's race and performed better in the Democrat-dominated state than many thought he would.

The endorsement comes after Zeldin spent time with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who is expected to be Trump's strongest challenger for the GOP nomination.
