Lawyer for Pete Hegseth says sexual assault accuser was aggressor
Trump Defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth’s lawyer, Tim Parlatore, asserted in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News that the sexual assault allegations against his client were “completely investigated” at the time they were leveled and that he is “completely and totally innocent.”
Hegseth has been thrown into the spotlight since Trump nominated him to lead the Pentagon, and it didn't take long for Democrats to dig up a discredited sexual assault allegation from seven years ago.
Most recently working as a co-host of Fox News’ Fox & Friends Weekend, Hegseth was invited to speak at an event hosted by the California Federation of Republican Women. He reportedly had “too many drinks” with the organizers when he was accosted by a sober woman who took him back to his room.
Parlatore told Breitbart, "She took advantage of him. She led him. She was, by all accounts, both video and eyewitness, she was sober. He was drunk. She grabbed him. She took him to his room. She’s like walking arm in arm with him. And really putting it on, and she gets him into his room. And then the police honestly, when they looked at it, even though she was the one that reported it, when they looked at the video, they considered charging her."
This was happening at the height of the #MeToo movement, and many believe this woman targeted Hegseth in order to either get a payday or national notoriety for accusing a high-profile Fox News anchor of misconduct.
Essentially, Parlatore says, Hegseth was actually the victim, while the woman in question walked away without consequence. This hasn't stopped Democrats from smearing Hegseth's name and dragging him through the mud with slanderous accusations.
