Sources in the know say that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) is on former President Donald Trump's VP list, even though he has also said he's not focused on choosing anyone right now.
Noem and Trump have had a strong relationship since he visited Mount Rushmore on July 4, 2020, when fireworks returned to the venue.
She's a solid conservative and would be an asset to Trump's campaign and presidency. Normally, however, presidential candidates choose someone from a more purple state that could be carried in their favor.
"The list of potential VP picks is quite long, and frankly, at the moment, the president isn't focused on this," one source said.
Trump is having too much fun watching the contenders trying to one-up each other at this point, the source also said.
Another source close to Noem said that she would "absolutely" consider the role if Trump were to choose her.
