King Charles to 'pause' cancer treatments for intense travel schedule: Report

 October 8, 2024

In February, King Charles stunned the world when he announced he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer following a prostate surgery.

According to the Daily Mail, the king has been steadily treating the cancer but will soon "pause" his treatments due to an upcoming trip.

The king's doctors reportedly cleared him to pause his cancer treatments so that he can travel to Australia and Samoa for a "high-profile royal visit."

The outlet reported that the king would receive his treatments until the day he flies out for the royal visit, and they gave him their blessing that stopping it temporarily would be fine.

The king's travel plans are his first since being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

The Mail noted of his schedule:

The 75-year-old monarch will undertake a significant official visit beginning on October 18, taking in Sydney and Canberra, immediately followed by a State Visit to Samoa in the South Pacific where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

As soon as the king returns to the U.K., he will reportedly immediately resume his medical treatments, according to the report.

The trip, a total of 30,000 miles covering over 11 days, will be intense. The king and his wife, Queen Camilla, will have at least 10 formal engagments and only have one day of downtime during the whirlwind trip abroad.

Many believe the fact that he can take such a trip between treatments is a sign that his health isn't as bad as once thought, though doctors will be paying close attention to his health while he's away and ready to resume treatments when he returns.

The Mail added:

Sources stress, however, their programme has been organised in close consultation with his doctors and is 'mindful' of his health. Engagements have been organised to 'prioritise' his continued recovery.

Some users on social media have accused King Charles of faking his cancer diagnosis, and many commented on his ability to pause treatments for such an intense travel schedule.

"This is rubbish. Either he's taking the opportunity of a break in his chemo to travel, or it's a downright lie," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "That's a ridiculous thing to do unless it's the break between chemo that they're pretending is something else!"
