Kevin McCarthy orders House committees to open investigation into 'politically motivated prosecutions'

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has ordered House committees to investigate whether federal funds are being used in "politically motivated prosecutions" in response to the likely arrest of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

Trump is set to be indicted by Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg for a misdemeanor charge related to hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Republicans are calling foul and pointing out that the case against Trump is a political hitjob that is being pushed by a DA who lets violent criminals walk regularly.

McCarthy announced on Twitter that, "I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions."

Bragg, who won his election thanks to funding from billionaire George Soros, is a radical leftist and not only wants to perp walk Trump, he wants Trump's misdemeanor bumped up to a felony.

This is the same DA who has downgraded over half of the felony cases he has handled down to misdemeanors. While an investigation is appropriate, Republicans must press for Bragg's immediate removal from office.
