Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) might not have been expecting the call, but he got it.
It was Joe Biden on the horn, apparently calling to congratulate him for the GOP winning a majority in the House of Representatives.
I don't agree with much that Joe Biden does, but even I have to admit that this was a display of good sportsmanship. Too bad it didn't involve any actual issues being solved. They're still both a few social classes above the rest of us, two men who have made it into the country's club of elite politicians.
The only difference between them is that McCarthy wants to spread that success to the American people, and Biden wants to reserve it for his friends and family only.
Still though, Biden didn't HAVE to call. Maybe he's just trying to get McCarthy to take it easy on him in the future.
"It was kind of short. He congratulated me," McCarthy said. "So for anyone who thinks we didn’t win the majority. Joe, at least, believes we did as well."
