Kevin McCarthy fundraises off possible Liz Cheney presidential run

A new fundraising email from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) aims to raise money off of the possibility that former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) may seek the presidency in 2024.

The email contained a straw poll asking whether Cheney should run in 2024.

Cheney was ousted by her conference after turning against then-President Donald Trump, then joining the Jan. 6 committee as one of two anti-Trump Republicans.

She then failed to win her primary in 2022 and has languished in obscurity since.

"Clearly Kevin McCarthy still has an insecurity complex when it comes to Liz Cheney,” one former congressional aide said.

That, or he just knows most Republicans think she's the lowest of the low.
