Kari Lake, the gubernatorial candidate for Arizona who continues to challenge the results of her election in 2022, has decided to challenge Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I) with a run for the Senate in 2024.
Lake filed the paperwork last week to run and announced her candidacy on Tuesday with a rally in Scottsdale.
Her strongest Republican challenger for the nomination is likely to be Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
If Lake defeats Lamb, she could go on to face Sinema and a Democrat challenger, Rep. Ruben Gallego.
Polling suggests that in a three-way race, Gallego would win, but also noted that 15% of voters said they are undecided.
Lake became known nationally during her race for governor in 2022, and she was put forward as a possible vice-presidential contender before she lost the race.
