Kaplan poll has Ramaswamy tied with DeSantis, a distant second to Trump

A new national poll by Kaplan Strategies found tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy tied with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 12% each, still a distant second to former President Donald Trump at 48%.

The poll showed a major downturn for DeSantis, who had been in the 20s in most polls previously, and a gain for Ramaswamy, who was polling single digits in most polls previously.

“Ramaswamy outperformed six other hopefuls by more than double, marking a significant surprise in this poll,” pollster Doug Kaplan said.

Besides Trump, DeSantis and Ramaswamy, the poll also tested former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, South Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

The problem is, the poll only sampled 919 people, which renders it more inaccurate than the average poll of over 1,000.

Whether Ramaswamy has staying power to keep gaining momentum is anyone's guess.
