Kamala Harris' Past Back In Spotlight Amid Biden Replacement Talk
Vice President Kamala Harris' past as an aggressive prosecutor who locked up thousands for trivial offenses is back in the spotlight as Democrats scramble to find a suitable replacement for President Joe Biden.
Since Biden's disastrous presidential debate, Democrats have been rudely forced into a search for a suitable alternate if they want any hope of beating former President Donald Trump.
Harris is at the top of the list, as she is Biden's current vice president, presumably meaning that she could easily take over his campaign and avoid messy legal issues involving the massive amount of money that has been donated to the campaign over the past year.
However, that is about the only positive, as Harris might be one of the least-liked politicians in Washington, D.C., which is no small accomplishment. Conservative voters who don't like Trump won't vote for Harris and leftist voters don't like her either.
Lara Bazelon, a University of San Francisco associate law professor, explained, "Time after time, when progressives urged her to embrace criminal justice reforms as a district attorney and then the state’s attorney general, Ms. Harris opposed them or stayed silent... Ms. Harris fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony and the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors."
Harris is about as unpopular as they come, which is a major issue for Democrats who need votes from radical activists who would never support a "dirty cop" like Kamala Harris. At this point, she might actually be the only Democrat who would perform worse than Biden in November.
