Harris fails to dispute claim of Israeli 'genocide,' enrages Jewish supporters

Vice President Kamala Harris stopped at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Thursday to speak to students and ended up agreeing with a protestor who shouted that Israel is committing "genocide" in Gaza.

An angry protestor who demanded that Harris address Israel's "genocide" of Gazans was eventually escorted out of the event, but after he left, Harris stated, "Listen, what he’s talking about, it’s real. That’s not the subject that I came to discuss today, but it’s real and I respect his voice."

This statement from Harris signals that she is choosing her side in the fight between Israel and Gaza. If Harris believes Israel is actually committing genocide against the people of Gaza, there would be no way for her to justify U.S. support of Israel.

This immediately led to outrage with David Friedman, a former U.S. ambassador to Israel, who told the New York Post, "Kamala Harris just publicly validated the false and vicious accusation that Israel is engaging in genocide. Many, including myself, always suspected that she held this warped, antisemitic view of Israel’s self-defense against Hamas barbarism. But the cat is now out of the bag."

Harris and the Democrat Party have had to walk a narrow path with regard to the conflict, but Harris's statement puts her campaign firmly against Israel, something that will have consequences this November.

Many Jewish Americans who are watching the situation closely are likely going to walk away from Harris next month if they feel it is likely that she will end U.S. support for Israel in its fight against those who unleashed untold terror on Oct. 7, 2023.
