Harris risks harm to election interference case against Trump with 'lock him up' rally chants
Vice President Kamala Harris has a growing problem on her hands as her supporters have begun to chant "lock him up" in reference to former President Donald Trump.
Such language is nothing new for Trump, but because Harris is the vice president of the United States, the chants at her campaign rallies could be used by Trump's lawyers in their effort to beat the election interference case overseen by special counsel Jack Smith.
Any comments or signs of approval she makes could further delay or complicate the federal criminal charges against Trump, as they strengthen his argument that the indictment is a political cudgel designed to aid the Democrats.
Most Americans agree that the indictments against Trump are all politically motivated and designed to benefit the left, but the chants at Harris's rallies might just be the strongest evidence yet.
Smith's case is already taking on water thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity, and if he wants any hope of surviving, he must avoid any sign of collusion with the federal government.
So now Harris and her team are trying to shut down the chants, but her supporters are so rabidly anti-Trump that it has become easier said than done.
