Kamala Harris omits 'right to life' from Declaration of Independence quote in Roe v. Wade speech

When Vice President Kamala Harris spoke in Tallahassee, Florida on the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, she misquoted the Declaration of Independence by omitting the word "life" from her recitation.

She spoke of “a promise that we made in the Declaration of Independence that we are each endowed with the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

By leaving out the right to life, she probably felt like she avoided validating the pro-life view that unborn children share in that right.

A battle is raging right now over access to contraceptive medications that cause early abortions; President Joe Biden signed an executive order the same day designed to protect women's access to these abortion drugs.

Meanwhile, in Florida where Harris spoke, Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed a 15-week abortion ban into law, which Harris decried.

“Here in Florida, healthcare providers face prison for up to five years for simply doing their job,” Harris said. “And now the state has also targeted medication abortion – and even threatened Florida pharmacists.”
