K-pop star Park Boram 'unexpectedly' dead at 30: Report

Fans of the popular K-pop music genre were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of one of the industry's biggest stars.

According to Yahoo News and multiple South Korean news outlets, K-pop star Park Boram "died unexpectedly" last week. The young star was 30.

Her death reportedly came in the wake of partaking in a night of drinking with friends, the reports indicated.

Boram was reportedly discovered by several friends slumped over the bathroom sink. Media outlets reported that the music star had "collapsed" after drinking that evening.

Yahoo noted:

The publication AllKpop stated, Park Boram was at a friend’s house with two friends when she went to the bathroom around 9:55 p.m. After a while, her friends found her unconscious, leaning over a sink. They immediately called for help and attempted CPR, but she was pronounced dead at Hanyang University Guri Hospital at 11:17 p.m.

The media outlet noted that Boram was in cardiac arrest when found by her friends.

It was also reported that police officials are still investigating the singer's death, as the exact reason for her sudden death has not been revealed to the public.

Yahoo added:

Park Boram rose to fame in 2010 after appearing on the singing competition series Superstar K2. Her official debut came in 2014 with the single “Beautiful,” which achieved significant success. She continued to make waves in the South Korean music scene with hits like “Celepretty,” “Sorry,” and “Dynamic Love.”

Xanadu Entertainment, the music star's management agency, released a statement regarding their client's unfortunate passing.

"Park Bo Ram suddenly passed away late at night on April 11. All of the artists and executives at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking that we have to tell you this sudden news to all of the fans who support Park Bo Ram," the statement read.

The agency added, "The funeral will be held after consulting with the bereaved’s family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased so she may rest in peace."

Given her popularity as a K-pop star, tributes to the singer poured in across social media over the weekend.

"Heaven has gained another beautiful voice, rest in peace park boram," one X user wrote
