Julian Assange freed from prison

 June 25, 2024

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is a free man, and all he had to do is plead guilty to a felony charge in a deal with America's Justice Department.

By pleading guilty to the charge, Assange was allowed to walk free, essentially ending a long-running legal saga that has been nothing short of epic.

The case has spanned multiple years, continents, and classified documents.

"WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people’s right to know," WikiLeaks current team posted on social media.

Assange was expected to return to his home country of Australia after his plea and sentencing on June 26.

He has been hailed as a hero by many for standing up for the public against a corrupt government.

Assange has also been labelled a villain by those who point to allegations of rape against him accusations he has denied.
