New York Judge Juan Merchan issued a gag order in the hush money case against former President Donald Trump, set to begin next month in Manhattan.

Trump is barred from commenting on witnesses, prosecutors, court staff and jurors or getting other people to make such comments on his behalf.

Prosecutors had requested the gag order last month, arguing that some of Trump's comments led to threats against those he referenced.

The order may also be a response to comments Trump made about Merchan's daughter on Truth Social on Tuesday.

Trump noted Merchan's daughter's ties to liberal politicians like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and even President Joe Biden, offering it as evidence of Merchan's bias in the case.

Trump is allowed to comment about D.A. Alvin Bragg, who is an elected official.
