Judge Tanya Chutkan Denies Trump Immunity Claims

 December 2, 2023

The federal judge in Donald Trump's election interference case just dropped a bomb on Number 45.

Trump is NOT receiving immunity because of his status as a former president of the United States of America in the case over which Tanya Chutkan is presiding.

Trump and his team argued that since he was this country's president at the time the incidents in question happened, he should be afforded some protections.

Despite the seemingly sound argument, the judge still decided to side with Jack Smith's prosecution team, saying that "presidential immunity did not prevent the prosecution of a former office holder."

"Defendant's four-year service as Commander in Chief did not bestow on him the divine right of kings to evade the criminal accountability that governs his fellow citizens," said Chutkan.

Do you think that this is the right decision?

It is definitely a blow to Trump, but do you think that it was the right decision in terms of the law?
