Jordan subpoenas DOJ documents on handling of school board meetings

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and the House Judiciary Committee have subpoenaed Attorney General Merrick Garland for Justice Department documents pertaining to its handling of parents at school board meetings.

Jordan has been asking for these documents since there was an uproar last year over a memo that suggested the DOJ wanted to classify parents who spoke out at school board meetings against curriculum about racism and transgenderism as domestic terrorists.

The DOJ has since backed off on plans to do so.

Garland has until March 1 to comply with the subpoena.

The DOJ's alleged activities could be seen as a way to "weaponize" the federal government against conservatives, putting it under the jurisdiction of a new select committee created to deal with these issues.

A lawsuit by parents against the DOJ was dismissed in September.
