JonBenét Ramsey's father says he received letter naming his daughter's killer
The murder of JonBenét Ramsey has exploded back into the forefront of American pop culture lately, at least partially because of a new Netflix documentary about the case that began on Dec. 26, 1996.
On the day after Christmas, JonBenét Ramsey was found brutally beaten and assaulted in the basement of her family's home in Boulder, Colorado.
The case received a lot of media attention because of the Ramsey's family wealthy status and JonBenét Ramsey being a child beauty queen.
Before her death, JonBenét Ramsey had won the titles of America's Royale Miss, Little Miss Charlevoix, Little Miss Colorado, Colorado State All-Star Kids Cover Girl, and National Tiny Miss Beauty.
JonBenét Ramsey's immediate family were essentially the only people the police initially considered suspects, and once they were all eliminated from consideration, police didn't have many threads outside of the family to follow.
Just because the police bungled the initial investigation doesn't mean there's no chance of ever finding the killer, though. JonBenét Ramsey's father, John Ramsey, announced after the documentary aired that he received a letter from somebody claiming to know who the killer was.
"Based on all this publicity, recently I got a letter from a lady saying, 'My ex-husband's the killer, and I've kept this inside for as long as I can -- please, please call me,'" John Ramsey said.
"We reached out to her, but she didn't answer the phone, so I don't know. We've shared at this point with a private investigator."
Let's pray this leads somewhere.
