John Fetterman calls on the Senate to boot Bob Menendez following expulsion of George Santos

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has called on his upper chamber colleagues to expel Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) after the House of Representatives removed Rep. George Santos (R-NY) over allegations of financial crimes and fraud.

Fetterman appeared on The View following Santos's historic expulsion and shocked the liberal panel by calling for Menendez's expulsion.

Fetterman stated, "We have a colleague in the Senate that actually does much more sinister and serious kinds of things: Sen. Menendez. He needs to go. And if you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?"

The expulsion of Santos set a new precedent for Congress. Despite not being convicted in a court of law, lawmakers saw fit to remove him from the House based on the serious allegations he is facing.

By that standard, Menendez also should be sent packing, and Fetterman's statements appear to be a rare moment of fairness at a time when most politicians rarely move against their own party.

Fetterman further stated that '“He has the right for his day in court and all that, but he doesn’t have the right to have those kinds of votes and things that — that’s not a right... [Menendez] is really a senator for Egypt, not New Jersey."
