Joe Biden leaves White House to visit Poland for one year anniversary of Russia-Ukraine war

President Joe Biden left the White House on Monday to visit Poland and mark the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Biden plans to use the trip to reinforce the ties between the United States and our allies in Eastern Europe.

Biden's first item on the agenda was a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda and then to deliver a speech reiterating the United States' continuing support of Ukraine.

White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said, "Last time he was in Warsaw, he was out there meeting Ukrainian refugees and shaking hands. He’s a kind of self-starred man of the people. I think he’s much more comfortable on the frontlines in Warsaw than he is in the back rooms sipping Cava with the elites at the Munich Security Conference."

While all that sounds great, Americans should be concerned about the possibility of escalating tensions between the United States and Russia.

With Biden's visit to Poland comes a renewed movement to send American fighter jets to Eastern Europe, a move that could drag us into war.

The plight of Ukraine needs to be balanced against the possibility of open warfare between the United States and Russia. Hopefully, the president will use his visit to push for Ukraine and Russia to seek a peace deal and end this terrible war.
