Biden joins Ukraine's 'fighter jet coalition' to help train Ukrainian pilots

President Joe Biden announced at the G7 Summit in Japan that the United States would be joining Ukraine's "fighter jet coalition."

The coalition has been put together in response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's calls for international help with training Ukrainian pilots on modern aircraft to combat Russian air capabilities.

As of now, the United States will only provide training in Europe, but we will not be providing jets so as to avoid escalating tensions with Russia.

President Biden must avoid turning what has become a proxy war into a real war between nuclear-capable nations. If the U.S. were to supply jets to Ukraine, we would get closer to all-out war with Russia.

Zelenskyy responded to the announcement by saying, "I welcome the historic decision of the United States and POTUS to support an international fighter jet coalition."

The United States will be joining Denmark, Belgium and the UK in this coalition to train and prepare Ukrainian pilots. Such training should give Ukraine a vital edge as it continues to hang on in the war against Russia.
