Joe Biden approves massive pipeline project, environmental groups enraged

April 17, 2023

President Joe Biden has approved an 807-mile natural gas pipeline project in Alaska in an unprecedented move that has enraged environmental groups and leftists.

A statement from the DOE read, "The Department of Energy today issued an order amending a 2020 decision to impose new environmental requirements that prevents venting carbon dioxide, in addition to reaffirming all prior environmental conditions. This order does not approve construction of the project — that was done by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in 2020."

The pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project were first proposed in 2014 and eventually approved in 2020 under the Trump administration before being delayed by President Joe Biden.

The project is expected to create 10,000 jobs during construction and 1,000 permanent jobs while also supplying LNG which is more environmentally friendly.

Rick Whitbeck, the Alaska state director of Power The Future, reacted to the decision by saying, "This is a significant step toward getting more jobs for our families and a boost toward getting the Alaska LNG pipeline project built. The approval proves that the Biden administration finally acknowledges the key role fossil fuels play in our energy future."

The decision predictably enraged environmental groups like the Sierra Club and Center for Biological Diversity, which immediately blasted the Biden administration. For once, Biden is making decisions that benefit Americans instead of catering to radical groups.
