Jim Jordan Suspicious About FBI Tying Catholic Group To Violent Extremism

April 12, 2023

Representative Jim Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, has officially subpoenaed FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Jordan asked that "Wray provide him with all documents and communications the FBI has on the targeted set of Catholics."

The subpoena comes after the FBI in January produced a document titled "Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities."

Jordan was provided a copy of the document that said that violent extremists in America are becoming increasingly interested in "radical-traditionalist Catholic" ideology.

The FBI had plans to locate churches that may or may not be involved with these violent individuals. They were then going to goad the leadership at the churches into FBI "tripwires."

Tripwires are the word for unofficial informants to the FBI.

The FBI described "radical-traditionalist Catholics" as people that have a "disdain" for modern-day popes, prefer Latin mass, and have a "frequent adherence to anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and white supremacist ideology."
