First lady Jill Biden gave a tribute to country superstar Toby Keith on Tuesday, remarking on his recent death from stomach cancer at age 62.

“He fought with grace and courage,” a social media statement said of Keith, who died Monday after being diagnosed in 2022.

“Cancer truly touches us all,” the first lady said in her post. “Rest in peace, Toby Keith.”

Keith was known for songs that had a political, usually conservative, bent to them. One of his biggest hits was “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American),” which was written after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

President Joe Biden and his wife have launched an initiative called the "Cancer Moonshot" that aims to reduce cancer deaths.

Their oldest son, Beau, died of cancer in 2015.
