Fans of a popular recent TV series were beyond stunned at the news of the death of the spouse of one of the show's main stars.

According to the Daily Caller, Parks and Rec star Aubrey Plaza announced the shocking loss of her husband Jeff Baena.

Baena, a filmmaker, died at the age of 47, according to an early TMZ report.

An assistant for the family reportedly found Baena deceased in a home in the Los Angeles area on Friday evening. Law enforcement and first responders arrived at the scene, pronouncing Baena dead in the residence.

Sadly, multiple sources reported that Baena took his own life, with some reports indicating that a rope was used in the tragic death.

Baena worked with a number of directors and actors on his film projects, and many were shocked and saddened at the news of the young filmmaker's death by suicide.

The Daily Caller reported:

Baena received his film degree from New York University before moving to Los Angeles to launch his career. There, he worked alongside directors such as David O. Russell and Robert Zemeckis, the outlet reported. Baena directed several of his own movies, including the 2014 horror-comedy “Life After Beth,” which starred Molly Shannon, John C. Reilly and Aubrey Plaza, whom he would later marry.

Plaza announced her marriage to Baena in 2021. She's known for her roles in Parks and Rec, Agatha All Along, and The White Lotus. She also had guest appearances in Criminal Minds.

In an interview with Drew Barrymore, Plaza commented on what it was like to work alongside her husband in the industry, saying "It’s a really hard thing to navigate but we’ve been together for 11 years."

Their marriage story delighted fans, and Plaza once said, "The marriage thing was just a joke that went too far."

“We got married on a whim. Literally decided at around 5:00 p.m. and got married at 8:30," she continued.

Fans of both Plaza and Baena posted their condolences across social media in the wake of the tragic news.
