Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance, also a senator from Ohio, revealed during an episode of Joe Rogan's podcast that his phone was successfully hacked by Chinese entities sometime between July and now.

Vance said the hackers used infrastructure created to accommodate restrictions from the Patriot Act and FISA Section 702 to breach his phone.

“I don’t think that they got really anything. We’ll find out. Apparently, they couldn’t get the encrypted messages that were sent,” Vance said.

He also said he believes former President Donald Trump's phone was hacked as well.

Last week, the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said they were investigating “the unauthorized access to commercial telecommunications infrastructure.”

The Chinese have been unusually brazen in trying to influence the 2024 election.
