Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds angling to be Donald Trump's running mate

 July 17, 2023

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds shocked America when she signed a six-week abortion ban on Friday in time for a massive conservative summit that many political spectators say was timed to catapult Reynolds into consideration to bccome Donald Trump's running mate.

Reynolds signed the bill at the conservative Family Leadership Summit, where every Republican candidate outside of Trump gathered to pitch themselves to Iowa's evangelical voter block.

The entire process was extremely quick, as Reynolds called a special session to get the bill passed and prepared for her to sign at the summit.

The new bill is one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, only making exceptions for rape with specific requirements to inform law enforcement and medical professionals of the crime within 45 days.

Leftists predictably freaked out and launched massive protests, but in the wake of the Roe v. Wade reversal, Reynolds has the high ground and will likely get a signature accomplishment with which to boost her profile nationally.

There has been a lot of speculation about who Trump will select to be his running mate, a position that many Republicans will no doubt do almost anything to gain.
