Intel committee shakeup sets stage for new Trump administration

House Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) decision to shake up the leadership of the Intelligence Committee has some critics concerned about national security under incoming President Donald Trump.

Johnson appointed Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR) to chair the committee, replacing McCarthy holdover Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH).

Crawford is not a big fan of continuing Ukraine aid, while Turner did support giving Ukraine all the resources possible.

The new chair also spoke about "abuse within our nation’s security apparatus" and previously didn't support certifying Pennsylvania and Arizona's electors in 2020.

In other words, Crawford is much Trumpier than Turner, but it makes sense that Johnson would try to align with the new leadership.

Lefties are no doubt nervous about the change, and they should be. It's a new era, and a lot of things are going to change in ways they're not going to like.
