Impeachment Trial Of Ken Paxton Begins

 September 6, 2023

Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial began on Sept. 5.

It was a watershed moment in American history because the articles of impeachment were brought against Paxton by members of his own party.

Texas' "state Senate is taking up 16 articles of impeachment relating to allegations of bribery, dereliction of duty and disregard of official duty against Paxton," according to Fox News.

Paxton is only the third person to stand for an impeachment trial in the entire history of the Texas legislature.

The AG is noteworthy because of his close ties to former President Donald Trump.

He is not just personally close with Trump, he is also close to the former president in his approach to asserting his innocence.

According to Paxton, the entire impeachment process being brought against him is nothing more than a "politically motivated sham."

Trump used the words "witch hunt," while Paxton opted to call it a "sham."
