Hollywood gave tributes to deceased actor Matthew Perry, best known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the long-running sitcom Friends, on Sunday following news of his apparent drowning death on Saturday at age 54.
The official Friends account on Instagram called Perry a "true gift to us all.”
“We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family,” the studio said. “The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans."
Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub on Saturday. Police said that foul play was not suspected.
He was nominated for three Emmy Awards and appeared in several movies after Friends ended.
Perry revealed that he had a decades-long struggle with addiction and several stints in rehab before getting clean in 2021.
