Hogan considering 2024 bid: 'Trump will not be nominee'

Former Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) said he is considering a run for president in 2024, mainly to keep former President Donald Trump from being the nominee.

Hogan said he is "taking a close look" at running for president and cited "eight years in a row" of tax cuts in his state.

"I had the biggest economic turnaround in America," Hogan bragged.

When asked if Hogan would support Trump if he is nominated, Hogan said, "I don’t think he is going to be the nominee. But look, I’m not one of the folks that focused my time attacking the president. I was one of the few Republicans that was willing to stand up and say when I disagreed."

He said he did support some of Trump's policies but questioned his ability to win elections after three that could be considered losses in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

"I don’t think he’s the strongest nominee to win in November," Hogan said. "We lost three elections in a row. We lost the White House. I think we have to figure out a candidate that can appeal to a broader audience of people and can win over swing voters. Otherwise, we don’t get to govern if we keep losing elections.”
