Hillary Clinton endorses Kamala Harris after Joe Biden announces exit from race

 July 22, 2024

With President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris is next in line to take over, and she has collected the endorsement of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Clinton announced her endorsement via a statement with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, on X.

The statement read, "We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her." This is a huge endorsement that will go a long way to dissuade other Democrats from challenging Harris.

When Biden dropped out, the power vacuum was wide open, and even though Biden endorsed Harris as his successor, many Democrats saw an opportunity for Mrs. Clinton to step in.

However, it looks like she will remain on the sidelines and throw her weight behind Harris.

This isn't good news for Democrats, as Harris solidifying her grasp on the nomination is arguably a worst-case scenario. Harris is one of the few Democrats who might actually be a less effective candidate than Biden.
