Half-brother of Al Sharpton faces 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to tax fraud and drug conspiracy charges

The half-brother of Rev. Al Sharpton, Alabama pastor and activist Kenneth Glasgow, now faces 20 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to tax fraud and drug conspiracy charges on Friday.

Glasgow ran several charities, including one for people with drug addictions, the homeless, incarcerated and their families. Another one was meant to help pastors minister to prisoners and former prisoners.

He was charged with taking money out of the charities without paying taxes on it, with Social Security fraud for claiming disability benefits for not being able to drive while traffic citations prove he did drive, and for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

Glasgow, like Sharpton, is an activist who is against law enforcement and champions "voting rights."

Glasgow was arrested on capital murder charges in 2018, but a jury decided there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.

FBI agent Paul Brown said about the case, "Kenneth Glasgow’s actions not only endangered the community, but defrauded the American taxpayers. His guilty plea should help to dissuade others from following this same path."
