Glenn Youngkin is beating Joe Biden in Virginia. prompting speculation of him entering Republican presidential race

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is beating President Joe Biden in a hypothetical match-up, according to a new poll from the Virginia Commonwealth University's Wilder School.

The poll found that Youngkin would win the state of Virginia in a hypothetical match-up with Biden by a margin of 44% to 37%.

Considering that Virginia typically swings blue in presidential elections, this poll shocked everyone and has some pressing for Youngkin to jump into the race for the GOP's presidential nomination.

That same poll found that Biden would win the state of Virginia if the race were between him and former President Donald Trump, who is currently leading the Republican field.

That race would go to Biden 43% to 40% and deny the GOP the ability to steal a state that hasn't voted red in the presidential contest since 2004.

As of May, Youngkin was reportedly considering jumping into the race after stating he wouldn't run for president in order to serve out his term as Virginia's governor. This new poll might add to the pressure and persuade him to jump into the race.
