According to the judge's timeline, a ruling about whether Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis and/or prosecutor Nathan Wade will be disqualified from the Trump election case should come down by the end of the week, even as Georgia holds its presidential primary on Tuesday.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said after two days of often-explosive testimony on the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade, and on whether that was a sufficient ethical lapse to remove them from the case.

Among the allegations is that Willis hired Wade after the two began their relationship and that he paid for vacations the two of them took with taxpayer money. They claim their relationship started after his hiring and that she paid him back in cash -- no records -- for the vacations.

Cell phone records suggest that Willis and Wade were romantically involved prior to his hiring in 2021 and that he visited her condo 35 times during that time, including arriving late at night and leaving early in the morning.

A former friend and co-worker of Willis testified that their relationship began in 2019, while his former defense lawyer tried to explain a text message admitting their relationship as "speculation" and said he doesn't remember when he realized the relationship existed.

The biggest issue is whether taxpayer funds were misused and whether the two can work together on the case without bias or animosity at this point.
