Georgia judge allows mail-in ballots to be handed in until Election Day's end
A judge in Georgia dismissed a lawsuit from the RNC that sought to block voters from returning mail-in ballots in person by claiming that it violates Georgia's election rules.
The lawsuit was filed after officials in heavily Democrat-leaning Fulton County opened offices on Saturday and Sunday to allow voters to hand in their ballots, which was an unexpected change, as those offices were meant to be closed.
The RNC argued that Georgia state law says ballot drop boxes cannot be open past the end of advance voting, which ended this weekend, but Democrats continued to accept mail-in ballots.
The RNC argued that mail-in ballots shouldn’t be hand-delivered after early voting ends, as it would violate Georgia law. However, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kevin Farmer rejected the claim saying, "I find that it is not a violation of those two code sections for a voter to hand-return their absentee ballots."
It's worth noting that Judge Farmer did not justify his decision to reject the motion by citing Georgia law but rather simply denied it.
Judge Farmer's actions mirror the actions of many leftist judges who refuse to follow laws around election processes. Interestingly, these decisions always seem to enable Democrats in their ongoing violations of the law.
