Georgia appeals court likely delays Trump trial until after 2024 election

 June 4, 2024

An appeal to remove the prosecutor in Donald J. Trump's Georgia election racketeering case has been set for October 4, essentially cancelling any chance of trying the case before the Nov. 5 election.

Ashleigh Merchant, "the lawyer who launched the disqualification issue by filing the motion to disqualify Willis on behalf of her client Michael Roman, a former Trump 2020 campaign official who is one of Trump's co-defendants," claimed that "there's no chance for trial before the election."

Trump has been seeking to remove Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis from the matter after she proved she is not trustworthy enough to handle such a high-profile case.

That's because Willis is treating the case as her own personal playground, even having the stones to appoint the married man she was sleeping with to be the lead prosecutor against Donald Trump.

The judge in the case made Willis' lover, Nathan Wade, remove himself from the case, but the defendants are arguing that that isn't good enough.

Any case in which Fani Willis is involved is going to have suspicion cast on it, and Donald Trump is smart to be using that to his advantage.
